New members of the Board of the Swiss Music Council for the period 2025-2029
At the beginning of April, the delegates of the Swiss Music Council (SMC) met in a building of the Competence Center for Military Music in Aarau.
The hosts welcomed the assembly participants with an open-air concert by the recruit school brass band. Before the official start of the meeting, Colonel Philipp Wagner, Commander of the Competence Center for Military Music, and Hanspeter Hilfiker, Mayor of Aarau, addressed a few words of welcome to those present. Once again, the Swiss Music Council would like to thank all those who helped to make this event such a festive occasion!
The main item on the agenda was the renewal of elections for the period 2025-2029. Seven current committee members had announced their resignation at the end of their last term of office. The WSC is very grateful to all of them for their long-standing contribution to the committee. They were thanked with a round of applause and a gift.
Chairwoman Rosmarie Quadranti also announced her resignation at the end of her mandate, believing that someone with a "direct link to Berne" would be better placed to defend the interests of the Swiss music scene in political circles. Stefan Müller-Altermatt, National Councillor from Solothurn, already well known to many delegates as Chairman of the Parliamentary Music Intergroup, has agreed to take on this role. Stefan Müller-Altermatt was unanimously elected as the new Chairman. However, he will not take office until August 1, 2025. Rosmarie Quadranti will therefore remain Chairman of the WSC until July 31, 2025, but she has already been honored on this occasion for her unstinting commitment to the WSC with much applause and a gift.
The CSM looks forward to working with the new committee, and will continue to do its utmost to improve the cultural and educational framework conditions in Switzerland, in order to promote the creation, dissemination and preservation of music in all its diversity.
