The keys to a convincing stage presence

At this year's Swissmedmusica symposium, top-notch speakers from England, France, Germany and Switzerland will reveal their recipes for convincing stage presence.

The renowned cellist and psychologist Chiara Samatanga, who obtained her doctorate at the University of Bern and lectures music students on practice, stress, stage fright and the psychology of chamber music at the Bern University of the Arts, will talk about mental states during practice and performance. Pianist and clinical psychologist Sara Ascenso, who is developing research projects and new academic programs on musician well-being at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, will analyze with us the myths about musician well-being. German pianist, singer and physician Pauline Gropp is a lecturer in embodiment and music medicine at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. She gives us an insight into the personality structure of charismatic artists. Multi-award-winning French vibraphonist, percussionist and mental coach Sylvie Reynaert teaches at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg and, on the model of mental coaching for athletes, runs a mental preparation workshop for musical talent in preparation for competitions, exams and auditions.
