The 2020-2021 season - his last at the helm of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne - opens with this challenge: the complete Beethoven symphonies given free of charge at the Salle M\u00e9tropole during four concerts in one week, from September 4 to 12. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Prestigious guests<br \/> <\/strong>Over the course of the season, the orchestra will welcome many distinguished guests, including pianists Fazil Say, Sir Andr\u00e1s Schiff, Chick Corea and Nelson Goerner, cellists Truls M\u00f8rk, Alban Gerhardt and Nicolas Altstaedt, violinists Christian Tetzlaff and Julian Rachlin, bass Mikhail Petrenko and conductors Ton Koopman, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, Hannu Lintu and Bertrand de Billy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OCL on tour<br \/> <\/strong>The orchestra will also be touring Switzerland and Europe, performing at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Festival de P\u00e2ques d'Aix-en-Provence, the Festival de Musique de Menton, the Festival International de Musique de Besan\u00e7on and the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>B\u00e9b\u00e9 Concerts and great classics for children<br \/> <\/strong>Building on the growing success of its children's concerts, this season the OCL is turning its attention to the forgotten members of this budding audience: the very young. On February 17, 2021 at 10am, 11:15am and 5pm, children aged 0 to 5 and their parents can enjoy a concert designed especially for them. On the program: a privileged musical moment, listening time alternating with moments of interaction and a rare closeness with the musicians, who invite themselves into the heart of the audience. For older children, this year's Concerts D\u00e9couvertes offer the chance to (re)discover Le Petit Prince, Le Carnaval des Animaux and Un Conte de No\u00ebl by Charles Dickens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antony Ernst, new Executive Director<br \/> <\/strong>The OCL Board of Trustees announced in December 2019 that current Executive Director Beno\u00eet Braescu would be stepping down at the end of July, to be replaced by Antony Ernst. A musicologist and playwright by training, Ernst has held numerous positions in the classical world, most recently as Director of the Royal Danish Orchestra.<br \/> \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The 2020-2021 season is the last under the artistic direction of Joshua Weilerstein.
