A disciple of Paul Burger in Lausanne and Paul Bazelaire in Paris, he won the Geneva Competition at the age of 15, and a year later was awarded first prize at the Paris Conservatoire in 1946. In 1948, he was awarded the first Piatigorsky Grand Prix.<br \/> \u00a0<br \/> A teacher of professional cello classes in Geneva and Lausanne, he has performed all over the world, championing unjustly neglected repertoires (such as Sonatas by Faur\u00e9, Honegger, Martin\u016f, Kod\u00e1ly, Pr\u00e9vost, and the Concerto by the Czech Jind\u0159ich Feld) and passing on his knowledge to several generations of cellists, who today perpetuate his legacy.<\/p>\n<p>The Haute \u00e9cole de musique de Gen\u00e8ve et Neuch\u00e2tel, in collaboration with the Swiss and French cello associations, is giving a concert in tribute to Guy Fallot on October 17 at 8pm at Le Temps in Lutry.
