In ASIMA, traditional works from the Far East unite with contemporary Western music. The notes of the erhu (2-string Chinese violin), pipa (lute), guzheng (table zither), dizi (bamboo transverse flute) and shakuhachi (Japanese flute) blend with the sounds of guitar, piano, bass and drums. Choreography combines dance and wushu, a Chinese martial art that favours fluid, powerful movements.<\/p>\n

Immersing the audience in a new universe is the vocation of this exchange initiated by artists from the Valais who are open to the world. The compositions, created or rearranged by Nicolas Fardel, are based on a principle of balance between traditional Asian themes and European sounds. A total of 12 artists (singing, dancing, music, martial arts), from Asia (China, Taiwan) and Europe (Switzerland, France) respectively, create a dialogue between yin and yang, bringing to life relationships of opposition, interdependence, influence and mutation.<\/p>\n

Created in 2014 and performed in a short version on August 29 at the Swiss-China Festival in Berne, ASIMA returns in its entirety on September 19 at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Le Baladin in Savi\u00e8se (VS).<\/p>\n
