La paix mondiale ne saurait \u00eatre sauvegard\u00e9e sans des efforts cr\u00e9ateurs, et : \u00ab l\u2019Europe ne se fera pas d\u2019un coup, ni dans une construction d\u2019ensemble : elle se fera par des r\u00e9alisations concr\u00e8tes cr\u00e9ant d\u2019abord une solidarit\u00e9 de fait \u00bb. 70 ans plus tard, ces paroles du ministre fran\u00e7ais des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res de l\u2019\u00e9poque sont toujours d\u2019actualit\u00e9. D\u2019une certaine mani\u00e8re, elles sont \u00e9galement issues de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience tir\u00e9e au d\u00e9but du 19e si\u00e8cle lorsque seule l\u2019alliance de plusieurs nations a pu mettre un terme aux invasions de Napol\u00e9on et de ses troupes. Le fait que le Congr\u00e8s de Vienne, qui suivra bient\u00f4t, n\u2019ait pas r\u00e9pondu aux espoirs de tous ceux qui ont fait des sacrifices est une autre histoire\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Pour la m\u00e9tropole du Danube, les ann\u00e9es 1814\/15 sont une p\u00e9riode de grandes festivit\u00e9s et de divertissements, car les chefs d\u2019\u00c9tat et leur entourage ne doivent pas seulement \u00eatre divertis de la meilleure fa\u00e7on possible : la salle de bal est souvent aussi un lieu de diplomatie. Ce rassemblement des grands de ce monde a \u00e9galement encourag\u00e9 la cr\u00e9ation de cantates festives, des \u0153uvres qui m\u00e8nent une existence obscure dans l\u2019histoire de la musique, si elles ne sont pas compl\u00e8tement tomb\u00e9es dans l\u2019oubli. A l\u2019automne 1814 par exemple, Beethoven compose le <em>Glorieux moment<\/em>, une partition qui, apr\u00e8s sa cr\u00e9ation en grande pompe le 29 novembre de cette ann\u00e9e-l\u00e0, n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 jou\u00e9e que deux fois de son vivant. Elle ne sera publi\u00e9e qu\u2019en 1835, mais dans une \u00e9dition luxueuse. Deux ans plus tard, l\u2019\u00e9diteur remplace le libretto original \u00e9crit pour l\u2019occasion par un po\u00e8me passe-partout de Friedrich Rochlitz (<em>Preis der Tonkunst<\/em>) et il indique explicitement dans la pr\u00e9face que ce remplacement \u00ab n\u2019a pas n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 le moindre changement dans la musique\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Beethoven \u00e9tait pleinement conscient de la fonction repr\u00e9sentative de sa composition. L\u2019ampleur des mouvements, les forte puissants de l\u2019orchestre et des parties chorales, qui rappellent souvent Haendel, en t\u00e9moignent encore aujourd\u2019hui. Le plus inhabituel et le plus impressionnant est sans doute le n\u00b0 3 (<em>O Himmel! welch\u2019 Entz\u00fccken!<\/em>), dans lequel une soprano et le ch\u0153ur sont rejoints par un violon solo. Avec le piccolo et une \u00ab turquerie \u00bb efficace, le final anticipe en partie l\u2019<em>Hymne \u00e0 la joie<\/em>, mais il est ici encore \u00e9largi par l\u2019ajout d\u2019un ch\u0153ur d\u2019enfants.
