Le Edizioni Lemoine non si sono accontentate di una semplice traduzione, basata sulla terza edizione riveduta del 2002, ma hanno ampliato l'opera di un terzo: oltre a tre capitoli dedicati da Bruno Gillet alla voce e alla scrittura per gruppo vocale e a uno studio, a cura di Gilbert Amy, sull'uso dell'orchestra nella musica contemporanea, il traduttore Philippe Vernier ha aggiunto un numero considerevole di note e commenti, raggruppati alla fine del volume, che forniscono informazioni aggiuntive e dettagli che arricchiscono e approfondiscono l'opera originale. Anche l'indice, molto dettagliato, \u00e8 stato notevolmente ampliato, rendendo facile e veloce la ricerca di ci\u00f2 che si sta cercando. Una rilegatura solida e di alta qualit\u00e0 preserva le 1100 pagine di quest'opera di riferimento.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Adler non si limita a descrivere le possibilit\u00e0 di ogni singolo strumento, ma studia anche ogni gruppo strumentale da solo o in combinazione con altri gruppi, prima di descrivere in dettaglio l'orchestrazione pratica per l'orchestra sinfonica. Vengono analizzati numerosi esempi della letteratura orchestrale, da Giovanni Gabrieli ai giorni nostri, compresi estratti di opere concertanti e di opere liriche. Il capitolo dedicato alle trascrizioni affronta anche il caso di formazioni strumentali incomplete o eterogenee.
