Non si tratta di un sistema di scrittura unificato, poich\u00e9 ogni compositore vi si approccia in modo diverso. Il concetto di politonalit\u00e0 ha assunto un significato pi\u00f9 ampio di quello che intendeva definire in origine, arrivando a caratterizzare qualsiasi processo di sovrapposizione armonica, modale o tonale. Curato da Philippe Malhaire, il primo dei due libri comprende vari contributi che presentano un approccio teorico e analitico, e delinea l'uso della politonalit\u00e0 da parte di Liszt, Ives, Stravinsky, John Williams e del poco conosciuto Emile Gou\u00e9, tra gli altri.<\/p>\n<p>Il secondo libro, interamente scritto da Malhaire, approfondisce la riflessione e lo sforzo di sintesi, offrendo anche nuove prospettive teoriche e rimuovendo le ambiguit\u00e0 della terminologia tradizionale e delle approssimazioni - permettendo un'analisi pi\u00f9 precisa e una delimitazione meno nebulosa della storia delle diverse forme di politonalit\u00e0. L'autore riprende e ridefinisce i termini per ogni possibile situazione vicina o lontana dalla politonalit\u00e0: polimusica, polisistemica (simultaneit\u00e0 di diversi sistemi di scrittura), polimodalit\u00e0, polidiatonia, polimelodia, poliarmonia, polifunzionalit\u00e0, poliscalarit\u00e0, polipolarit\u00e0 e infine vera politonalit\u00e0, in senso stretto o lato.<\/p>\n<p>Dopo questa rassegna terminologica, un capitolo altrettanto importante esamina la percezione della politonalit\u00e0, che pu\u00f2 essere facilmente assimilata, all'orecchio, all'atonalit\u00e0 o a un'estesa unitonalit\u00e0, a seconda del contesto e dei parametri della scrittura musicale. Vengono quindi presentati diversi approcci teorici, prima di analizzare alcune opere significative di Bruneau, Koechlin, Milhaud, Ravel, Satie e Stravinsky. Dopo aver definito chiaramente l'argomento, Philippe Malhaire passa infine alla storia della politonalit\u00e0.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media
