Arricchita da 230 illustrazioni, questa preziosa opera pubblicata in inglese da Harvey Miller Publishers, casa editrice rinomata per la qualit\u00e0 dei suoi libri d'arte, \u00e8 stata scritta da un'\u00e9quipe interdisciplinare sotto la direzione di Tim Shephard, mettendo in luce la ricchezza delle varie interazioni tra le arti dell'udito e quelle degli occhi. Il testo approfondisce i temi trattati, attingendo sia agli scritti teorici che all'iconografia del Rinascimento ed estendendo l'analisi alle situazioni sociali e intellettuali dell'epoca.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revuemusicale.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/12_crit_buch_Mettraux1.jpeg\" alt=\"Image \" \/><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"\">La pratica musicale nell'antichit\u00e0<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>Un'eccezionale mostra al Mus\u00e9e du Louvre-Lens (Pas-de-Calais) nel 2017 ha messo in prospettiva la pratica onnipresente della musica nella vita quotidiana nell'antichit\u00e0 mesopotamica, egizia, greca e romana. Il suo notevole catalogo, edito da Snoeck e dotato di quasi 500 riproduzioni a colori, fa luce sui molteplici aspetti dell'argomento con un approccio tanto pedagogico quanto erudito, aggiornando le conoscenze in campi di ricerca in rapido sviluppo come l'archeologia musicale, l'antropologia del suono e lo studio della liuteria antica. Grazie ai continui contatti e scambi tra le civilt\u00e0, in particolare intorno al Mediterraneo, si sono sviluppate influenze reciproche, mentre le pratiche e i modi di espressione variano notevolmente. Una parte del libro \u00e8 dedicata ad articoli di sintesi, intervallati da note su argomenti come la teoria musicale mesopotamica e la scoperta di rappresentazioni pittoriche e strumenti a Pompei, mentre il corpo principale del libro descrive il contesto dei manufatti in mostra in termini di temi inter-civili (musica per il culto divino o per la corte, lo status dei musicisti, l'organologia, ecc.) Le appendici offrono anche una panoramica del contributo delle nuove tecnologie alla conoscenza dei suoni del passato.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revuemusicale.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/12_crit_buch_Mettraux2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Image \" \/><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"\">Trombe curve da Pompei<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>Tre dei numerosi autori del libro precedente, nonch\u00e9 uno dei soggetti citati, si trovano in un libro pubblicato dalle Presses universitaires de Rennes, dedicato alle cinque cornua portate alla luce a Pompei nel XIX secolo. Queste trombe di bronzo ricurve, dal suono potente, erano ideali per i segnali militari, per gli anfiteatri (in particolare per i combattimenti tra gladiatori) e per le processioni solenni, oltre che per il suono delle campane funebri e per le convocazioni delle assemblee. Potevano essere suonate da sole, in coppia, in duetto con l'hydraule o la tuba (un tipo di tromba verticale), o in ensemble.
