L'ultima di queste \u00e8 dedicata al proteiforme Rossini, un uomo dalla vitalit\u00e0 conquistante che abbandon\u00f2 il palcoscenico in et\u00e0 matura, pieno di umorismo ma dopo aver sopportato i dolori della malattia cronica e della depressione. Famoso per il suo repertorio buffo, alcuni dei cui titoli rimasero in cartellone senza eclissarsi, si dedic\u00f2 sempre pi\u00f9 alla seria prima di concludere la sua carriera con una grande opera francese, <em>Guglielmo Tell.<\/em> Nel corso del tempo, la maggior parte di questi testimoni di un periodo cruciale dell'arte lirica e dell'apoteosi del bel canto sono caduti nell'oblio e sono stati riscoperti solo negli ultimi decenni. Sotto la penna esperta di Chantal Cazaux, i vari capitoli, impreziositi da una bella iconografia, presentano diversi aspetti biografici del bambino di Pesaro, offrendo studi sulla sua opera, note su alcuni dei suoi interpreti pi\u00f9 rappresentativi dal passato ai giorni nostri, oltre a una selezione di discografia, videografia e bibliografia. Il fulcro di questo volume \u00e8 la descrizione di 18 opere, con la loro genesi e le circostanze della loro creazione, la loro collocazione nella produzione di Rossini e del suo tempo, una sintesi della loro azione, il carattere dei personaggi e una guida all'ascolto.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revuemusicale.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/04_crit_buch_Mettraux1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Image \" \/><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>Dallo stesso editore, il catalogo dei libretti dedicati pi\u00f9 specificamente a un'opera viene regolarmente ampliato, come recentemente con l'ultima partitura di Britten per il palcoscenico, il crepuscolare e onirico <em>Morte a Venezia<\/em>Basata sull'omonimo racconto di Thomas Mann, l'opera riflette le preoccupazioni di Britten: la riflessione sulle fonti di ispirazione, il fascino della bellezza come simbolo della perfezione della creazione artistica e l'imminenza della morte - la salute del compositore \u00e8 gravemente compromessa. La lotta tra Eros e Thanatos, il conflitto tra apollineo e dionisiaco, l'antagonismo tra mente e sensi, il braccio di ferro tra l'idealizzazione della bellezza pura e il desiderio che nasce dalla contemplazione della sua incarnazione, la contrapposizione tra un clima inquietante sottolineato da una musica ascetica che spesso sfiora il silenzio (il dramma interiore del protagonista principale, la cui psiche \u00e8 tormentata, con alcuni ruoli secondari che ne ritraggono il destino e la morte, e la minaccia di un'epidemia di colera) e la luminosit\u00e0 quasi surreale delle delicate sonorit\u00e0 ispirate al gamelan: Quest'opera, ricca di contrasti, viene analizzata in dettaglio, il libretto e la traduzione sono riprodotti in extenso, e una serie di interessanti saggi sull'opera e intorno ad essa approfondiscono la nostra comprensione e ampliano la nostra conoscenza.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\"
