Uno di loro, Saint-Sa\u00ebns, prolifico scrittore di lettere e autore di poesie e commedie, scrisse innumerevoli articoli per riviste e giornali di ogni tipo, non solo su argomenti relativi alla musica o all'arte, ma anche, ad esempio, sull'astronomia o sulla zoologia, due sue passioni. Pubblicata dalle Editions Premi\u00e8res Loges, la selezione compilata, presentata e curata da Karol Beffa si concentra sul suo talento di musicografo. Tra i testi dedicati ai suoi colleghi passati e presenti, noteremo l'emozione che traspare dal ritratto intimo che fa di Berlioz, l'entusiasmo con cui difende un altro suo amico, Liszt, o la descrizione del rubato di Chopin, come gli \u00e8 stato rivelato dalla cantante Pauline Viardot, per non parlare di altre testimonianze di prima mano dedicate a Gounod o Bizet, la sua esitazione di fronte a Offenbach o la sua ammirazione per Faur\u00e9. I suoi 26 scritti comprendono anche reminiscenze della sua giovinezza e saggi come quello in cui denuncia gli eccessi degli ammiratori di Wagner. Non privo di vivacit\u00e0 o di umorismo, lo stile letterario di Saint-Sa\u00ebns, inizialmente aperto alle innovazioni musicali per poi chiudersi con l'avanzare dell'et\u00e0, \u00e8 caratterizzato da chiarezza ed elegante concisione.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revuemusicale.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/04_crit_buch_Mettraux1-2.jpg\" alt=\"Image \" \/><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>Il secondo lavoro pi\u00f9 personale di Karol Beffa, pubblicato da Buchet\/Chastel, \u00e8 un invito a scoprire i compositori trascurati del XX secolo (Nadia Boulanger, Hahn, Kod\u00e1ly), i minimalisti americani (in particolare John Adams, di cui analizza la partitura orchestrale) e i compositori americani del XX secolo. <em>El Dorado<\/em>) e Vladimir Cosma, creatore di indimenticabili colonne sonore. Nel corso di una libera esplorazione che comprende anche una ricerca sui riferimenti musicali proustiani e una panoramica sui compositori in Francia tra le due guerre, egli evoca anche il suo rapporto con le opere di alcuni dei suoi modelli, come Poulenc e Ravel, e denuncia i paraocchi intolleranti di coloro che, solo pochi decenni fa, anatemizzavano chiunque non rientrasse nei loro schemi
