Da alcuni decenni, un numero crescente di compositori \u00e8 consapevole dell'importanza di aprirsi il pi\u00f9 possibile ad altri tipi di musica, soprattutto extraeuropea. Selezionando i parametri, adattati o meno, che desiderano impiegare, essi (ri)scoprono pratiche che fertilizzano la loro immaginazione: oralit\u00e0 e interattivit\u00e0, modalit\u00e0 che possono includere microtonalit\u00e0 o scale non ottave, uso di ostinati e ripetizioni variate, nuove forme di struttura ritmica, spaziatura del tempo (durate allungate, macroperiodi complessi, metriche ambigue), ricchezza di timbri strumentali, senso del rituale. I vari capitoli coprono aree e concetti come la ricerca dell'alterit\u00e0, il senso del tempo, i suoni delle percussioni, la musica gamelan, le tecniche vocali e la spiritualit\u00e0. Lo stato della creazione musicale in alcuni paesi dell'Estremo Oriente \u00e8 oggetto di una sezione appositamente sviluppata. Corredato da un glossario e da numerose testimonianze di prima mano, questo libro ci permette di seguire i vari approcci e le fonti di interesse di diverse decine di compositori, sia occidentali (tra cui Berio, Glass, Huber, Ligeti, Messiaen, Ohana, Reich e Xenakis, per citarne solo alcuni) sia non occidentali (Takemitsu, Tan Dun, Xu Yi e molti altri). Tuttavia, non vengono trascurate le questioni attuali, in un momento in cui le pratiche musicali tradizionali sono sempre pi\u00f9 minacciate dalla standardizzazione commerciale (\"world music\") o da una visione puramente \"esotica\". Per quanto riguarda la decontestualizzazione dell'ascolto in concerto o su disco, questa pu\u00f2 certamente alterare il loro significato sociologico o spirituale, ma spesso il contesto socio-culturale \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stato profondamente alterato nel paese d'origine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revuemusicale.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/09_crit_buch_Mettraux-2.jpg\" alt=\"Image \" \/><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>Ripubblicato quest'anno, il glossario di Jo\u00eblle-Elmyre Doussot, composto da oltre 120 articoli terminologici, ci introduce alla complessit\u00e0 dell'ornamentazione barocca e della sua notazione, spesso diversa da un luogo, da un compositore o addirittura da un'opera all'altra, che l'autrice classifica secondo la classificazione di Frederik Neumann - un utile elenco di simboli \u00e8 riportato alla fine del volume. Pur essendo conciso, questo dizionario illustra le varie pratiche di agr\u00e9ments e diminuzioni e la loro evoluzione nella musica vocale e strumentale tedesca, inglese, francese e italiana, non senza ricordarci che, in ultima analisi, \u00e8 tutta una questione di buon gusto e che bisogna saperle eseguire bene, altrimenti, come dice Saint-Lambert nel suo <em>Principi del clavicembalo<\/em>Deturpano i pezzi invece di esaltarne la bellezza, e sarebbe meglio non farli affatto che farli male.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img
