Cependant, l\u2019impulsion d\u00e9cisive pour la composition de toute une s\u00e9rie de quatuors \u00e0 cordes a peut-\u00eatre \u00e9t\u00e9 une lettre du prince Nikola\u00ef Galitzin, dans laquelle il lui commandait \u00ab un, deux ou trois nouveaux quatuors \u00bb (en fran\u00e7ais dans le texte).<\/p>\n<p>Mais la cr\u00e9ation du premier de ces quatuors (en mi b\u00e9mol majeur, op. 127) le 6 mars 1825 fut d\u00e9cevante \u2013 et d\u00e9montre que Beethoven \u00e9tait trop en avance sur son temps avec ses derniers quatuors \u00e0 cordes. Dans un des cahiers de conversation du compositeur sourd, le violoniste Schuppanzigh qui avait cr\u00e9\u00e9 cette \u0153uvre \u00e9crit d\u2019ailleurs : \u00ab Il n\u2019y a pas de difficult\u00e9s m\u00e9caniques, seule l\u2019originalit\u00e9 rend la chose difficile, et on ne peut pas saisir cela au premier abord \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Beethoven lui-m\u00eame \u00e9tait bien conscient des exigences techniques et intellectuelles de ses partitions. Dans un carnet d\u2019esquisses, on trouve cette remarque au sujet du premier mouvement du quatuor op. 130 : \u00ab dernier quatuor [pour Galitzin] avec une introduction s\u00e9rieuse et difficile \u00bb. Finalement, l\u2019adagio n\u2019est pas si difficile que \u00e7a, mais il semble s\u2019imbriquer de fa\u00e7on contrast\u00e9e avec l\u2019allegro qui suit. Le troisi\u00e8me mouvement, andante, et la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre cavatine (le 5e mouvement) sont pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s chacun d\u2019un petit scherzo. La conclusion est constitu\u00e9e de ce qui deviendra la \u00ab Grande Fugue \u00bb, qui sera remplac\u00e9e par un rondo final et imprim\u00e9e \u00e0 part. Dans sa biographie de Beethoven (3e \u00e9dition, 1860), Anton Schindler d\u00e9crit d\u2019une mani\u00e8re peu compr\u00e9hensible cette version originale de l\u2019\u0153uvre comme le \u00ab monstre de toute la musique pour quatuor \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Le fait que le compositeur et le public per\u00e7oivent parfois diff\u00e9remment les nouvelles \u0153uvres n\u2019est pas un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne n\u00e9 avec le 20e si\u00e8cle. Karl Holz, deuxi\u00e8me violon du Quatuor Schuppanzigh, se rappelle la premi\u00e8re de l\u2019opus 130 le 21 mars 1826 : \u00ab la repr\u00e9sentation a eu lieu en l\u2019absence de Beethoven, comme toujours. Le public \u00e9tait parfois enthousiaste, parfois \u00e9tonn\u00e9 ou interrogatif, mais par respect, il ne contestait pas. Il a compris \u2013 ou peut-\u00eatre pas. Lors de la premi\u00e8re du Quatuor en si b\u00e9mol [majeur], qui se terminait encore par la fugue, les brefs mouvements interm\u00e9diaires en si b\u00e9mol mineur et en sol majeur ont d\u00fb \u00eatre r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s sur demande imp\u00e9tueuse du public [\u2026]. La fugue est pass\u00e9e sans \u00eatre comprise. Beethoven m\u2019attendait apr\u00e8s la repr\u00e9sentation dans l\u2019auberge la plus proche. Je lui ai dit que ces deux morceaux avaient d\u00fb \u00eatre r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s. Oui ! dit-il avec col\u00e8re, ces <strong>friandises <\/strong>!
