Entriamo in un ambiente dove il silenzio sembra predominare, e lo studioso di ecoacustica J\u00e9r\u00f4me Sueur ce ne mostra le molteplici sfumature in un libro recentemente pubblicato da Actes Sud. In esso, dobbiamo abbandonare ogni antropocentrismo per non generalizzare le nostre capacit\u00e0 di trasmissione e ricezione ad altre specie, e ancor meno la nostra volont\u00e0 e le nostre emozioni. L'autore ci introduce allo studio della sonosfera e delle sue fonti geofoniche, biofoniche (animali e vegetali) e antropofoniche, illustrando il suo punto di vista con numerosi esempi tratti dal regno animale. Oltre ai segnali intenzionali, esistono innumerevoli altre manifestazioni, biotiche o meno, accidentali o meno, che l'audiobiofilia, l'ascolto sensibile e analitico dei suoni della natura, ci rivela: il battito d'ali, la masticazione, il soffio del vento, lo scorrere cristallino dell'acqua o lo scricchiolio di un ramo. Ma dove si nasconde il silenzio? Sebbene predatori e prede lo utilizzino per scopi diametralmente opposti, il suo ruolo comunicativo e strutturale all'interno dei sistemi ambientali \u00e8 particolarmente importante. Un'opera collettiva presenta diversi saggi dedicati a questo tema (i clavicembalisti barocchi francesi, in particolare Couperin; la musica contemporanea, con i contributi di tre compositori: Fran\u00e7ois-Bernard M\u00e2che, Alain Louvier e Yumi Sa\u00efki), nonch\u00e9 al tema dei segnali fonici entomici, alle loro modalit\u00e0 di produzione, alle loro ragioni d'essere, al loro inserimento nel cuore del paesaggio sonoro e al loro utilizzo musicale a fini umoristici. Tra le altre cose, conosceremo le locuste musicali tenute in gabbia in Giappone per farle ascoltare agli amanti della musica e i vari miti che associano gli insetti alla musica, sia in Mesopotamia che nell'antica Grecia, presso gli indiani Hopi o i Dogon del Mali.
