Call for entries for the Marta-Walter Prize 2026
Every two years, the Swiss Society for Musicology (SMG-SSM) awards the Marta-Walter Prize (formerly the Handschin Prize) for outstanding doctoral work in the field of music research. The prize is named after Swiss musicologist Marta Walter (1896-1961), whose bequest to the SSM provided the financial basis for the award. The prize is worth CHF 3,000. The award ceremony will take place as part of the SSM's Fourth Study Day (25.09.2026, Lucerne).
Candidates considered must have completed their doctorate, including defense, between 01.01.2024 and 31.12.2025. Applications may be submitted until 15.03.2026. Electronic applications should be sent to Luc Vallat (luc.vallat@unibe.ch) at the SSM secretariat. Please consult the Conditions and further information.
