Music students at the microphone!

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Swiss Association of Music Schools is teaming up with the Pestalozzi Children's Foundation's powerup radio. Children and young people from music schools in 18 different cantons will produce radio programs to be listened to live or as podcasts.

"Hello, Moutier!"  - Guten Morgen, Basel! In August and September 2025, the radio bus will be touring Swiss music schools. For one or two days, children and young people will produce live broadcasts with music, discussions and concerts from the music schools on site. "Philippe Krüttli, President of the Swiss Association of Music Schools, says, "The focus is on the music and the children and young people taking part - they'll be able to experience the thrill of being a journalist or radio presenter. With this radio bus tour, the association underlines its goal of promoting equal opportunities for access to musical training throughout Switzerland. The 250,000 or so students at Swiss music schools will now have a voice - and an insight into the work of music schools.

The tour program

The radio bus will stop for one or two days at each participating music school. The recording days will often be complemented by concerts and catering. We're really looking forward to it!

Half a century of musical training

ASEM was founded in Baden in 1975, at a time when many towns and cities were opening their own music schools. 1978 saw the creation of an independent pension fund for music teachers, the "Fondation de prévoyance ASEM/SSPM", now known as the "Caisse de pension Musique et Formation". In 2009, ASEM transforms itself into the umbrella association of Swiss music schools, and begins to draw up basic documents on various aspects of music training. Its presence in federal politics is strengthened. In June 2007, ASEM launches the music initiative, which is accepted on September 23, 2012, making music education a topic of national importance.

In the spirit of its motto "anticipate - unite - support", the Swiss Association of Music Schools represents the 367 music schools affiliated to the cantonal associations. It defines guidelines for musical training, creates networks and platforms, and supports its members with a wide range of services.

ASEM is managed by a five-member board chaired by Philippe Krüttli, from St-Imier (BE). The secretariat is based in Basel and headed by Margot Müller, with the support of Susanne Weber, Communications Manager.
